A bruise is sometimes caused by internal bleeding under the skin. Basically, what happens is when blood vessels collapse, the blood doesn’t find its way to bleed out of the skin since it didn’t get a cut, so it gets trapped inside of the skin. It’s not an injury, but a bruise. It does go away, though, in a few days. Almost all of us grew up knowing that a bruise is obtained when you get hit or injured, but it’s actually internal bleeding instead of an injury.

According to Rachel Fine, a dietitian who owns a nutrition company and is a registered nutritionist, she states that getting bruised more often is our body’s way of telling us that our body is lagging behind on nutrition. Lack of vitamin C and K in our body is the main reasons why we get bruised easily. There are reasons why some people bruise more easily than others.

Another certified dermatologist, Tsippora Shainhouse, was interviewed by HuffPost in which she told them how heat and too much exposure in the sun are highly responsible in thinning of the skin and resulting in getting bruised easily, even if the injury is minor. It could also be a major reason for getting bruises easily.

Khalid Saeed, another renown physician of Florida, told HuffPost that if you are a heavy drinker and you get bruised easily, it could result in a condition known as, ‘cirrhosis.’ It is a serious medical condition in which the person’s liver is largely affected. And even if you are not a heavy drinker yet bruised easily, it could still be a sign of a serious illness. Either way, it’s best to get checked by your doctor/physician and get yourself an appointment as soon as possible.
